Reviews to be Written

Hi all, Vic here! I just want to let you know I'm having a blast being able to update this blog and share these new entries with you. Lately I have been updating everyday. It's likely you will not see a new post tomorrow. I have yet to write 2 reviews on two cartoons. Hint: they are both from 2005 and they premiered one day apart from each other. Another hint: the month was July, late in the first week. I have mentioned these shows by name at least once on this blog and said I will post about them. I've been having a difficult time gathering my thoughts to write these reviews. That's kind of why my updates have been sporadic in the past due to the stresses of life. I need ample time to watch these shows so I can give my opinions on who will most likely enjoy them. It should be any day now. Hopefully this week. Be patient! Good reviews take time. Vic out!

Goodbye to Bloo - Reviewed

I found out about it the next day. Not even 2 years later I finally got to see the episode. Yeah, the week of 3 May 2009 wasn't the best week for me (for personal reasons). To this day I have seen "Goodbye to Bloo" several times and here's what I think of it. They tried to make it where Mac would no longer be coming to Foster's when it was something else entirely. This was how they ended the series. Even if I had absolutely no idea this was the actual last episode, I can tell it's the final episode just by seeing how the story proceeds and ends. Toward the very end, upon closing the episode, the ending made my mind flash backwards through the entire series, remembering the great and not-so-great moments that made "Foster's" "Foster'

StipinCHOUstipiction

Originally Written 19-22 October 2016 I was looking back at a Cartoon Network Fridays show from 10 September 2004 and, as usual, it made me feel like I was still in that time period. It also included the "Wurd [sic] of the Day" segment. Remember how the ridiculously made-up word was introduced then a child from the audience spelled out the word spelling bee style? The word on the screen as introduced was spelled exactly like this: Stiptinchoustipiction. Used in a sentence, as said by Long Haul in his 18-wheeler, "I ordered me a chicken nugget and it was dipped in 'choustipiction'" (I doubt it was supposed to make sense). Then it sped over to the audience with their attention on a girl leaned over a low microphone spelling the word. All went well until she substituted the U with a W (StiptinchoWstipiction). Sometimes in this segment when the child has finished spelling, a voice would say, "That is...correct!" Not this time. They just went to the c

Very long-awaited belated Christmas Review

Originally written 8 January 2016 (one year ago tomorrow) Home for the Holly Daze My Dad the Rockstar Teletoon (Canada)/Nickelodeon (United States) 22 December 2003 (approx.; Teletoon) In 2005, Nickelodeon aired the Canadian animated television series, "My Dad the Rockstar." Each episode was aired except for the Christmas episode. I have promised to review it as soon as I've seen it (mentioned at the bottom of this post ). I finally got to watch it once in 2011 then again in 2016. I will review this rockin' and heartwarming Christmas special here. "Home for the Holly Daze" Review Was there a reason why Nick never showed this and I had to wait years to finally see it? Well, it was worth the wait! That insane Hollywood-like director had no business glamorizing what was to be a simple Christmas pageant. It was good that those involved found a place to perform the pageant at the end. Rock sang an epic rendition of a well-known Christmas carol then la

My Fair Smiling Mandy

Originally written 13 October 2016 My Fair Mandy Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy Cartoon Network 29 July 2005 Mandy is encouraged to enter a beauty pageant. In order to show her full beauty, she must do one thing one thing she doesn't usually do---smile. ---Vic's Review 13 October 2016 On this post , I said I might review this episode, so finally, here I go. This episode was full of that "you-know-what" Mindy and pageant moms using their daughters to live the dreams they wanted to have. I like how General Skarr was one of the judges. Toward the end, Mandy has her act singing her rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." She's no Judy Garland but the performance was really touching. Fans of "2001: A Space Odyssey" would understand the reference shortly after Mandy curved up her lips. The fact that Cartoon Network Fridays was hyping this at the time of the premiere and even making her smile again at all makes me want to bellow

Finally! Reviewing a Season 3 Danny Phantom Ep

Originally written 19-22 October 2016 Infinite Realms Danny Phantom Nickeldeon 10 July 2007 (approx.) As promised in: http://viccantalk.blogspot.com/2005/05/hey-danny-phantom-fans-guess-what.html Out of a couple "Danny Phantom" eps I watched on Hulu, one stood out to me. If it's good, it obviously deserves a high rating. What I liked about season 3, episode 2, called "Infinite Realms," was how Danny, Sam, and Tucker traveled through time with a special map of the Ghost Zone. I love how animation writers incorporate history in stories. What makes this better is how they prevented Vlad from getting a hold of the map. I love a good chase scene! The slapstick humor is always welcomed here, in a Butch Hartman show. This review may read a bit "holey" which gives me the opportunity to give this ep 4 1/2 stars . Go find a copy of this ep and watch it! I'm not saying too much about this. The combination of Butch Hartman-esque animation, music by G

Hey Arnold at 20: An Ode [originally written 8 October 2016]

Twenty years ago yesterday (being 7 October 2016), THE greatest cartoon ever made (or one of them), began its run as a series on Nickelodeon. Especially in those days, we had shows about kids who strove for fame, shows with bad incidental music, or a combination of both. "Hey Arnold" had none of that; just a normal kid and his friends living in the big city with really kickin' urban jazz scores in the background. Sure there were some changes throughout the run such as upgrades in animation and voice talent changes but this show remained watchable throughout its time. There are many likable characters and relatable plots that make this show very memorable. Arnold was the voice of reason among his friends; a unique feature that sets this piece apart from other TV works. You may disagree but I thought the movie was pretty good as well. Too bad Nickelodeon treated the series like crap toward the end (ie. crappy time slots, episode burn-offs until 2004). I'm all for the Ju

Wait, I'm here! [Vic's Review's Last Gasp]

What is going on? Yes, I'm still alive. I'll just carry on even though no one is reading. Is anyone reading? After I posted my last post, I thought my newer post were NOTHING like my old post from the blog's earlier days. Something was missing. Part of it was that I felt like I wasn't having any fun. The post were just forced. It was something I had to do. During these past seven years, I underwent so much; family, extra-curricular organizations, writer's block, maturing, new technology, additional English/writing classes, changing of likings... I haven't forgotten about this blog. In fact, all this time I've been thinking about what to do next with it. Since I have access to the account, abandonment is not an option. Through these years, my likings have changed quite a bit. These new likings include discoveries of older shows/animation as well as more live-actions shows. I figured my reviewing Power Rangers episodes on this blog would be extremely unf
