Camp Lazlo-From What I've Seen

Camp Lazlo
Cartoon Network
8 July 2005-27 March 2008

If you have never seen "Camp Lazlo" before and I told you it was created by Joe Murray (also created "Rocko's Modern Life"), what might you think? One might think, "A Joe Murray show, oh boy! Watching this will have the same feel as a 'Rocko' episode." Hold on there! Let's think things through here. Very early in the series I asked my compadres on what they thought of Murray's latest work. Most said they were disappointed that this was nothing like "Rocko." To me, comparing "Rocko" and "Lazlo" is like comparing apples to oranges; they are from different networks (Nickelodeon vs Cartoon Network), different eras ('90s vs '00s), different settings ("modern life" vs camp life), as well as different feels (for lack of a better term) (the feel of a classic Nicktoon vs the feel of a post-Cartoon Cartoon era series). However, some of "Rocko"'s old crew worked on "Lazlo" (Mark O' Hare, Martin Olsen...) and Rocko and Lazlo were voiced by the same voice actor (Carlos Alazraqui). When watching, just don't pay attention to the credits, have an opened mind and see what you think.

Honestly, I have not seen every single episode but from the various episodes I have watched from various seasons, the quality stayed consistent throughout the 5 seasons, dropping slightly around seasons 4-5. If you're interested (and I know you are), there are more sexual innuendos in later seasons (the writers knew it was about time). One of my favorite episodes is from season 1, "Nothing Club." I liked how the characters used their imaginations to make an imaginary club seem like a club I want to join; imagination at best! I've watched Lazlo since day 1 but dropped off around season 2. I couldn't keep up. I'm most fond of the season 1 episodes. I had to re-watch various episodes to write this review.

Thoughts on music and humor

Often great original music, especially the country-sounding music. Sometimes stock music was used and some of that is good too. For humor, I smile, make some "tee-hee-hee-hee"'s when appropriate, and when really appropriate I bellow out some huge "Hahahaha!"'s when needed.

For those who want to remember days when they went to summer camp and those who want to picture how summer camp would be like had they gone. It doesn't matter what time of the year it is. Just find yourself an episode, let loose, and relax. Enjoy an episode from any season. Enjoy the story, humor, and kooky characters. If you allow it, prepare to laugh your buns off 😆.

Vic's Review's VERY Last Gasp...on Blogger

Well, you saw this coming, didn't you? As I have told you in a previous post, this blog on Blogger will no longer be updated with new reviews. However, for historical and nostalgic purposes, the blog will remain up. I may or may not want to make another blog with Blogger. If so, what will the new blog be about? Blogger is a fine platform that had handled this blog very well through the years. It was very usable for blog beginners. Even I noticed the ease of use when starting this blog, my first blog. Though many things have changed since 2004, this platform is still very usable. I have the new blog set up but I have not posted anything yet. I was waiting to close out this blog first. This is made with the WordPress that was an option from my web hosting account (in other words, "wordpress.org," the non-free version). I am learning more about WordPress design/development so the blog will improve with time. The first post will come soon. Please stay tuned! http://ww...

StipinCHOUstipiction

Originally Written 19-22 October 2016 I was looking back at a Cartoon Network Fridays show from 10 September 2004 and, as usual, it made me feel like I was still in that time period. It also included the "Wurd [sic] of the Day" segment. Remember how the ridiculously made-up word was introduced then a child from the audience spelled out the word spelling bee style? The word on the screen as introduced was spelled exactly like this: Stiptinchoustipiction. Used in a sentence, as said by Long Haul in his 18-wheeler, "I ordered me a chicken nugget and it was dipped in 'choustipiction'" (I doubt it was supposed to make sense). Then it sped over to the audience with their attention on a girl leaned over a low microphone spelling the word. All went well until she substituted the U with a W (StiptinchoWstipiction). Sometimes in this segment when the child has finished spelling, a voice would say, "That is...correct!" Not this time. They just went to the c...

Top 10 Things I Learned from Making Vic's Review

Hello again! I hope all is well. I have been coming up with some great ideas for reviews in the past years and I feel I have the energy and talent to write them. However, they will NOT be on this blog. As I may have mentioned in an earlier post, I will be continuing this blog on a different platform. I feel the content on this old blog will be no fit for the topics and writing style of my current days. It's time to move on. More information will be coming shortly. Before my farewells, here are 10 things I have learned from writing this blog on and off for the past nearly 14 years. NOTE: click the linked content at your own risk. 10. Proofread and learn to spell! I've been reading many of my earlier post and have been thinking "Aw, man, what was I thinking? That 'your' is supposed to be 'you're'" and other errors such as misspelling character names. This may have been a time before spell check was standard in browsers. Now granted, when doin...
